KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS - BRITANNIA

The Kid’s second release from the new KID CREOLE and THE COCONUTS Album (tentatively entitled MAN OVERBOARD... or perhaps MAN OVER-BORED) is the unforgettable BRITANNIA.

The single is another collaboration from August Darnell and Mike Gorman. Mike did the BIG BAND arrangement.

Nevertheless, the result is PURE MAGIC.

AUGUST DARNELL

Yes, it's true. Guilty as charged! I am what is commonly referred to as a HOARDER! I hoard things. I collect things. And the lesson I force-feed my children has always been - DOCUMENT EVERYTHING! When the Coronavirus curtailed my freedom of movement, I decided to explore my cellars and lofts. That is where I found thousands of my cassettes that have followed me on every journey I have ever made (and that's a whole lot of mileage). They were just sitting there, still looking good, just waiting to be cared for again! Since the dreaded pandemic had made me a prisoner in my own home, I decided to use the time to listen to each and every cassette! That became my MISSION IMPOSSIBLY POSSIBLE! Thus was born ONCE UPON A CASSETTE, a collection of ditties and Darnellian witticisms never heard before. I now present you with The Volumes. I hope my attention span allows me to create at least one hundred more! In fact we are attempting to release one volume a month until we're over and done. And then in time for Christmas, we shall be offering a number of volumes available for purchase in tangible form. Pow to the Nth degree, guys and dolls!

Hey, remember the Wizard who said, "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain"? Well, here's my take on that: Always ignore that demand, from Wizards and Fools. Peel back all curtains. Be entertained. Be shocked. Be transformed. Be embarrassed.
I dare you. In fact, I double-dare you!

SCHOTT TREATMENT

Peter Schott and August Darnell have released Schott Treatment’s 4th single on 2c2cmusic.com. The Man Who Could Say No is a Latin-inspired, big band extravaganza, featuring the amazing vocal performances of Jo Harrop and Daniel Sitrit. With lush horn arrangements, mambo-inspired percussion, Cuban-tinged piano solos, and poignant lyrics, “The Man Who Could Say No” is a compelling new version of the classic Kid Creole and The Coconuts song.

“The Man Who Could Say No” delivers a powerful and infectious dance groove, with sparkling lyrics that identify the contradictions of love and fidelity in the modern world.

JODIE ANN - HABITS

Out Feb 13 - HABITS developed from a feeling of being unseen, unheard and lonely, albeit being surrounded by people. HABITS is poppy, catchy, another work of art from this talented young singer/songwriter.

Jodie Ann’s debut single with 2C2C, Happier Free, released last October, put her on the map as a recording artist, getting numerous radio plays on BBC Introducing in the UK. Habit has already been played on the BBC radio show in Lancashire, her hometown. Things are definitely looking bright for this young star!

DEAD MAN TALKING - KID CREOLE AND THE COCONUTS

The Kid’s first release of 2022 and the first release from the new KID CREOLE and THE COCONUTS Album (tentatively entitled MAN OVERBOARD... or perhaps MAN OVER-BORED) is the unforgettable DEAD MAN TALKING.

The single is the first collaboration of August Darnell and Mike Gorman, who is the keyboard player and MD in the band. Mike did the BIG BAND arrangement on this one. He used real musicians (imagine that) to capture that lush Cab Calloway/Duke Ellington sound.

DEAD MAN TALKING was recorded during the height of the pandemic in 2021. Consequently, each musician (there are over 20) had to record his/her part in the confines of his/her home, without spreading germs to fellow players. Nevertheless, the result is PURE MAGIC.

Enjoy!

NEW ARTIST SIGNS TO 2C2C

Let us proudly introduce you to HANFORD from Memphis, Tennessee. Kristina Hanford was discovered, by August Darnell, when he held auditions in NYC for his musical, Cherchez La Femme. Kristina impressed the team with her exceptional singing and performing abilities and she was signed up immediately to be one of THE LEMON DROPS (a trio modelled on the Coconuts) for the limited run at the La Mama Theatre in downtown NY back in 2016.
Need we add that she is also very pleasant on the eyes?
Hanford comes from a true theatrical family, with her parents and 2 brothers in this crazy corridor we call Show Biz! Another star destined for greatness.
Fast forward to 2021 when 2C2C was searching for the right vocalist to sing a powerful ballad written by Peter Schott. We knew straight away that Hanford would be the singer for this!
'This is My Reality' is out on November 5th.

Darnell says: “In 1995 I made a movie for Canal Plus called ‘Le Grand Voyage.’ I traveled around the world in less than 80 days, and I hung out with indigenous tribes in places like Ecuador, Australia, West Sumatra, Thailand, etc. The songs I wrote on that incredible journey became the album entitled The Kid And I. It was an August Darnell solo album. It was only released in France. The single from the album was ‘Stand Tall.’ The rights to that album reverted back to me after many years. After listening to the album during the Pandemic (on a break from Netflix), I fell in love with the songs all over again. That is why I decided this masterpiece deserved another shot. The fans deserve to hear these songs. And I am sure I will gather new fans if the album is heard and distributed and promoted properly.”

About the Artist...
Kid Creole kidnapped Stephanie Fuller a.k.a. Haitia Fuller from her life as a studio singer. She was doing backups for groups like The Rolling Stones at night and by day, singing solo on commercials for Coca Cola, Burger King and almost every shampoo product.
After many sessions in the studio with August, he and writer Ronnie Rogers produced her hit song “Take Me for a Night in New York” from the Elbow Bones and the Racketeers project. The fun continued. August invited her to sing the duets on the Kid Creole album “ I , too Have Seen the Woods” with the promise that she would come and sing on world tour with him...but of course, and the journey continued.
Her travels and her love of sailing the Caribbean prompted her to paint.
Colorful island primitives, leading way to ocean-inspired large works in acrylic, gold leaf, glass and sand and they are appropriately entitled; “Off the Coast of Me”, a nod to Kid Creole for all his inspiration.
Her new adventure is line drawing in Indian ink. A collection of 46 “young, privileged girls” entitled, “Les Demoiselles”. She just now added ‘The Coconuts Collection’ as an expansion of this work! These drawings are sold exclusively through the 2C2C web store.
Stephanie is gallery represented and has sold worldwide.

Kid Creole and the Coconuts

Something Incomplete, SCHOTT TREATMENT’s 3rd single on 2c2c Music, subverts the expectations of mainstream pop music with a dark, densely-layered orchestral score. Written by the dynamic duo of Schott and Darnell, Something Incomplete features Daniel Sitrit’s poignant vocal performance, expressing the emotions of survival during a breakup, and learning to live, love, and trust again.

Something Incomplete - Out on June 4th

Schott Treatment

New single by Kid Creole and the Coconuts - Mister Softee
- Release date: April 30
Why did I choose Mister Softee to be the first single from the OFF THE COAST OF ME (40th Anniversary Edition) album?

Well, I didn't.  That album is chock-full of potential singles. So I went about it in a democratic way (for a change). I reached out to Coati Mundi and the original Coconuts (Adriana Kaegi, Cheryl Poirier and Roni Griffith) and we voted on it.

Mister Softee won by a landslide. I know why. The Coconuts adore the sentiment of the song - cutting the Kid down to size has always been their favorite preoccupation. Hope you enjoy it as much as THEY do.

Hachachacha!
August Darnell

Kid Creole and the Coconuts

Pardon My Appearance, by Schott Treatment, tells a story of bittersweet romance, emotional longing, and unrequited love. Written and produced by Peter Schott and August Darnell, Pardon My Appearance features the dulcet tones of vocalist Jo Harrop, accompanied by a lush musical score, reminiscent of 1960’s cinema soundtracks. The work will be released by 2C2C Music on February 10.

Schott Treatment

Peter Schott and August Darnell have created a completely new genre of music, inspired by the classic soundtracks of the 1950’s and 1960’s.

The first single, “Being,” by the new group Schott Treatment was released world-wide September 9th, 2019. With orchestral arrangements, existential lyrics, and tantalizing vocal performances, Schott and Darnell have produced strikingly new versions of classic Kid Creole and The Coconuts’ songs.

Schott Treatment

Kid Creole and the Coconuts recently released a brand new single entitled ‘Checkin’ My Colonies’. The song was produced by Youngr who happens to be the Kid’s youngest son! The video animation was created by the uber talented artist Emrah Tumer from Turkey.

August Darnell aka Kid Creole has been promoting the new single on UK TV such as Lorraine and Sky News. He has also been very busy on BBC radio stations up and down the UK doing interviews including live interviews with Robert Elms for BBC Radio London and Lauren Laverne for BBC Radio 6 Music.
