August Darnell is so much more than just Kid Creole and the Coconuts. He started out his professional career as an English teacher in Long Island before jumping ship and joining his big brother, Stony Browder Jr., in Dr Buzzard's Original Savannah Band. In 1980, Darnell jumped ship one more time and his new persona, Kid Creole was born. 40 years later and after 15 albums, 27 singles and 7 compilations, Darnell is celebrating a huge and successful career. In 1981, Kid released his second album entitled 'Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places'. 2021 seems the perfect time to re-release a special 40th anniversary edition of this album. In this Volume Two of 'Call Me Mister Lyrical', you will find all the wondrous lyrics from 'Fresh Fruit in Foreign Places'. Look out for more volumes which will be published in the coming year.
